I'm listening to the The Mortgage Banker's Association report on current lending trends as I catch up on financial news. The market continues to look strong. Housing resales were on the rise in February after a record price drop (the market is correcting). Bear Stearns is going to sell for $10 instead of $2 (it is more valuable than expected). Many consumers are choosing to bank their tax refunds instead of spend them.
This is a building season and the best advice I can give is to remember that when the markets are low, it means assets are 'on sale'. You can buy shares of Starbucks for 50% of what they were last year. You can buy real estate for 10%-15% off what it was last year. Eventually these sales will get so good everyone will realize the opportunities available. And when that realization goes main stream... the sale is over and prices go back up. Happy shopping.
