Is everything a sale?

...'a' sale, not 'for' sale.
By 'a sale' I mean to ask "How many interactions do we have with people where one of us wants something from the other and are willing to pay some form of expense?" Once I mull that over, then I think about how few conversations I have where I truly don't want a specified outcome. This is very thought provoking for me.
